Methodology

Core formulas

1. Net income

net = gross × (1 − tax_rate − social_rate) + bonus_after_tax + RSU_after_tax
            − additional_tax

tax_rate and social_rate in fractions (e.g. 28% → 0.28)

2. Monthly leftover

leftover_month = net_month − (rent + utilities + internet + transport
            + groceries + healthcare + childcare × children + other)

3. PPP-adjusted net

net_PPP = net_year / PPP_coefficient

PPP shows real purchasing power. 1.0 = base; >1 means higher prices; <1 means cheaper.

4. Yearly savings

savings_year = leftover_month × 12 − visa_annual − visa_once (first year)

FAQ

Why do my taxes differ?

The calculator uses a simplified model with an effective tax rate. Real taxation depends on many factors: tax classes, deductions, family status, region. Use local tax calculators or consult a specialist.

How to estimate the PPP coefficient?

You can check PPP using sources like Numbeo, Expatistan or OECD. Quick rule of thumb: compare a typical basket to your baseline city. If life is 20% more expensive → PPP = 1.2; if 30% cheaper → PPP = 0.7.

How to account for kids' expenses?

Set the number of children in “Family” and the monthly cost per child in “Living expenses”. The calculator multiplies it by the number of children. You might also adjust groceries, rent and other items.

What are scenarios and how to use them?

Scenarios help assess financial resilience under different conditions. Conservative — higher taxes, higher expenses, no bonus. Base — your current inputs. Optimistic — lower taxes, lower expenses, bigger bonus. This shows a reasonable range.
